August 30, 2010

The meeting was called to order by President Syd Muenster.  Board Members present were:  Syd Muenster, Irene White, Gayle Fisk, Cindy Tuerk, Linda Stahl, Betty Leib, Susan Powell, Penny Nyman, Karen Ryan, Mary Lucas, Louise Day, Jeanne Parsley, Sue Marmion.  Board Members absent were:  Barb Hemmi, Bay Ponsiego, Melody Stramer, Peggy Baker, Terry Lambert and Jo Ann Miller.

The last general meeting minutes were posted on the website.  Syd asked if we could accept the minutes as posted.  Gayle Fisk made a motion that we accept the minutes as posted and Brigitte Barrett seconded.  Motion carried.

Treasurer Sue Marmion presented the budget status.  We have a balance of $3,565.16.  Nineteen additional members were added today to our previous 59, which will increase the budget balance.

Jeanne Parsley made a presentation to one of our current and much appreciated members, Barbie Winn Weems.  For 35 years, Barbie opened her home to host our Kick-Off Luncheon in August.  SAWGA gave her flowers in a beautiful crystal vase engraved with the SAWGA logo and “Lifetime Supporter of Women’s Golf”.  Thank you Barbie!!

Cindy Tuerk, Summer Playday Chairperson, made award presentations for summer play.  Drawings were held for door prizes from all the names of the summer participants.

Susan Powell, Special Tournament Chairperson, discussed possible courses for our “First Friday” playdays.  October 1st will be held at Hyatt Hill Country Golf Course, with a fee of $55 and a shotgun start at 9 a.m.  November 5th will be at Sonterra Golf Club with a fee of $45 and tee times beginning at 9 a.m.  Future “First Friday” locations are still pending and the final schedule will be posted on the SAWGA website.  The date of the SAWGA Club Championship is still being discussed.

Gayle Fisk, Regular Playday Chairperson, said we would be playing four times a month on Mondays, with a few exceptions, and the last Monday would be the Ace of Aces qualifying playday.  September 13th will be the first playday and will be at Brackenridge.

Syd discussed the seasonal awards.  A new format for Ringers will be the SAWGA Challenge.  Nine courses being used in our regular playday rotation will be used for calculating this challenge.  Each course will be played at least three times and we will be using the best scores on the numbers one and two handicap holes at each of the courses to complete eighteen holes of ringers.

Syd presented the Annual Ace of Aces Gross and Net Awards.  Deby Meeks is the Ace of the Year Gross winner, shooting a 76 in the tournament, and Gayle Fisk is the Ace of the Year Net winner, shooting a 61 net the same day.  Each winner was presented an embroidered head cover and towel.  Congratulations to Deby and Gayle!!

Qi Kerber was presented an award for her Hole-In-One on a SAWGA playday this past year.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned by President, Syd Muenster.

Respectfully submitted,

Irene White, Secretary
SAWGA
