SAWGA General Meeting Minutes
December 12, 2011 The meeting was called to order by President Syd Muenster at 4:20 pm. Board members present were Syd Muenster, Peggy Baker, Debbie Baum, Sue Marmion, Cindy Tuerk, Cindy Garcia, Brenda Mosley, Sandy Hogan, Kathy Zurawel, Susan Powell, Penny Nyman and Flo Scott. Board Members absent were Norma Renfro, Bay Ponseigo, Terry Lambert, Linda Stahl, Mary Lucas, and Jeanne Parsley. Syd thanked Kathleen Zurawel and Sandy Hogan for organizing the Christmas Holiday play day and luncheon and commented that she thought the 2-person scramble format was a good format to use at this time of year. She also thanked the Olympia Hills staff for hosting the event. The minutes of the meeting held August 29, 2011 were read and accepted as read. Motion was made by Peggy Baker, seconded by Irene White to approve the minutes. Motion carried. Also introduced were new members Billie Dauk, Shellie Boydstun, and Cindy Bagwell. Syd gave the treasurer’s report and the membership report. Currently the treasury balance is $4,852.03, revenue based on 97 members. Membership today was reported at 109. The budget was based on 105 members. Brenda Mosely, Tournament Chairperson, reported that the primary changes to the schedule are that some of the shotgun starts are being changed to tee time starts. Some courses will still have the same tee times. Be sure to check the play day schedule. The Ft. Sam play days will be on the La Loma course. The start times for the Club Championship (May 7 and 8, 2012) will be a shotgun on the first day and tee times on the following day. The First Friday in January will be at Sonterra on the North Course. New Business Peggy Baker, First Vice President, announced that she brought old SAWGA supplies with her today and if anyone was interested in checking out what was available, should see her after the meeting. Peggy also reported that she is forming a nominating committee for next year’s slate of officers and would like to have three volunteers. Volunteering were: Sue Marmion, Cindy Garcia and Sandi Fedor. Announcements Syd recognized Karen Antis for her hole-in-one at Brackenridge on #18. Karen was presented with a 14 carat gold Hole-In-One charm for a necklace. Syd commented that since we did not organize a raffle or donation drive for today’s tournament to help the Battered Women’s Shelter, perhaps this may be something we could organize during a future tournament such as the tournament in May. Syd expressed the loss of Nancy White. SAWGA was contacted by the Susan G. Komen organization about doing a tournament in her honor but since it takes a lot of time and work to get it organized, perhaps we could try and roll it into a regular play day. Komen suggested several ideas which we could incorporate into a smaller event. Peggy Baker suggested that we may want to donate funds to an animal shelter since Nancy was studying to be a vet aide. A motion was made by Cindy Turek, second by Peggy Baker, to adjourn. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 4:40 p.m.
