President's Message
September 2010
By Syd Muenster

I am about 26,000 feet in the air bouncing around in the clouds on my way to Denver as I compose my second message to our membership. I feel compelled to tell you how proud I am of our Board members who are working so diligently for you behind the scene.

Our 3rd Annual Tee-Off Tournament at Fair Oaks Ranch Golf & Country Club was a huge success. Our tournament chairs, Louise Day and Karen Ryan, organized the event to the delight of the sixty ladies who played. Betty Lieb, our historian, was able to capture the day via some great pictures. You can now check yourselves out at "Pictures" on the SAWGA website. This is a new feature added by Terry Lambert, our webmaster.

Thanks to all our ladies who invited friends to play and talked them into joining our organization. Nineteen ladies either renewed or joined for the first time.

Louise Day gave a convincing introduction about the value of our SAWGA membership and encouraged everyone to promote our organization. We had 102 members last year. Let's see if we can exceed that total this year.

We also honored Barbee Winn Weem for her longstanding 35 years of supporting our organization. Not many of us will accomplish that achievement.

We have some exciting events and venues planned for this year. Our First Friday event at Hill Country Hyatt on October 1 will be here before you know it. Susan Powell and Penny Nyman have negotiated a fee of $55. It would be great if we could have even more players at this event.

We are also introducing a SAWGA Challenge (ringers) that will reward the player who can shoot the lowest score at 9 different courses on their #1 and 2 handicap holes throughout the Fall and Spring season. A player in each flight will be rewarded. Bay Ponseigo will track our results and give us periodic updates to keep us in the race.

As you can see there is enough fun for everyone. Our Fall season starts on September 13 at Brackenridge so talk another friend into joining, and start having fun.

As always you know where to find me.

Syd Muenster
President 2010-2011
