December 2005 Newsletter
By Jennifer Guidry

Hello once again to all our wonderful SAWGA members.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome new members to our group and also welcome back long standing members.

For those members who were at the Christmas play day and luncheon (and that was nearly half of our members) I don't need to tell you what a wonderful day we had. The weather was perfect and Teresa Ramirez organized the day to perfection ,I thought Barbra Hemmi would be a hard act to follow as she excelled in organization, but she passed on her knowledge to Teresa and BAM now we have another great social chair. Sonterra did us proud I believe Robert the Tournament organizer for Sonterra helped Teresa an awful lot, I thank him for that, and also the caterer's surely worked hard and the food was as my daughter in law would say Soooooooo Gooooood. .

Ginger read the minutes of the last General meeting and they were approved, Nancy White gave us the balance of our funds which seem healthy around $5000 sorry can't be more precise but I forgot to write it down and I haven't got the minutes yet. We also collected for the battered womens shelter and collected a healthy $120. Jeannie Parsley asked for nominations please for new board members to take effect 2006 - 2007 if there is anything you could volunteer for we would be most appreciative, we only have four board meetings per year so it doesn't take all your time and we all help each other, come on help, contact Jeannie. Terry Lambert our web master asked me to read out a very nice thank you letter, which I did, and many congratulations Terry on your recent marriage. PJ our special tournament chair said that there was a very high turnout for last Monday at the Hyatt and there would not be a last Monday in December for obvious reasons, and so we can all look forward! to January 30th last Monday, venue to be announced and hope the turnout will be as good.

Jane ward presented Barbara Kale with the senior champion award, WELL DONE Barbara. And well done to all the winners of the best two ball competition it is a hard course and I think the scores proved that, but it was fun, I am sure you would agree.

OK enough of that we can now look forward to Spring play day, but not before we have many Friday's and last Monday's to play. You will probably have seen by now Syd our Friday play day chair has posted on the web our 2006 calendar which is excellent and really appreciated, thank you Syd and also as you mentioned at the meeting the board as approved that we start Friday's at 9am opposed to 8-30 which hopefully will help members but in order to do this we are informed by the city courses that we must not have slow play!! always remember to keep up with the people in front not in front of the people behind. The other decision the board passed was to enable members to bring a guest on a Friday instead of just last Monday's as was the case, but only once for the same guest and hopefully they will enjoy playing with us and join, we can all help there and make new people very welcome.

OK I hope I haven't forgotten anything, all there is left for me to do is WISH YOU ALL A WONDERFUL CHRISTMAS AND A GREAT GOLFING 2006 NEW YEAR,

JENNIFER GUIDRY
