April 2003 News
By Carole Buss

It hardly seems possible that another year is coming to an end. In a little more than two weeks we will be playing our final play day. Please mail your entry to P. J. Wright before the 12th of May. If you haven't yet played River Crossing you are in for a treat. It is a lovely golf course and P.J. has arranged a nice lunch.

The entry for the City Women's Amateur is enclosed if you don't have e-mail. You should have received our copy May 1 by e-mail. If you for some reason cannot access this entry on your computer you may pick one up at almost all the city courses. If you cannot find one at a golf course contact P.J. Wright.

The slate of officers for next year will be voted upon at the final meeting. I am sad and upset that this organization has no one who will step forward to take the reigns to lead the group. We have a fun wonderful organization with a long history of service to women's golf in the city of San Antonio. Many of the leaders are getting older and have served in many capacities thus it is time for new and younger faces to assume the leadership responsibilities. Without a President the organization would cease to function and what a shame that would be!!!

I want to commend and thank those who served on the board this past year. I especially want to thank Yolanda Deleon, Ginger McGee and Comel Tiller for their help to me and commend them for their willingness to serve again next year. Thanks also to Margaret Rumpf, a past president, who has agreed to serve as 1st Vice President?

The slate at present is:

  • - President – vacant

  • - 1st Vice President - Margaret Rumph

  • - 2nd Vice President - Yolanda Deleon

  • - Secretary - Ginger McGee

  • - Treasurer - Comel Tiller

There were two by-laws changes printed in the March newsletter. Please review the recommended changes and be prepared to vote on them.

On the lighter side: Man blames fate for other accidents, but feels personally responsible when he makes a hole in one.

I don't say my golf game is bad, but if I grew tomatoes they'd come up sliced.

My handicap? Woods and irons.

Have a good and safe summer.

Carole Buss, President
