St. Andrew’s UMC Wide Open Golf Tournament
Sunday, April 20, 2008 Shotgun Start 1:30 pm (Late reporting my result in a scratch with no refund) · Best Ball Scramble with Traditional Rules of Golf with some changes and additions. · The St. Andrew’s UMC Wide Open is open to all ages, levels and skills of golfers. · Seniors (70 & older) will play from the Senior (yellow) tee boxes. · Ladies will play from the red tee boxes. · Juniors (14 years & younger) will start play from the 200 yard markers on each hole. Juniors will tee off in conjunction with the second shot of their team on par fours and with the third shot of their team on par fives. Juniors will start play from the red tee boxes on par threes. · All other golfers will play from the white tee boxes. · Once tee shots are made, team members will proceed to the lie of their choice and team members will make shots from that location within one club length no nearer the hole, continuing to the green. · Team members will putt from the selected initial lie on the green. Best lie after first putt will be selected and putting will continue until a putt is made. No “gimmies”. · One team gross score on each hole will be recorded on the score card. Scorecards will be turned in upon completion of the round. · At registration, prior to teeing off on the first hole, each team must declare a handicap of their choice. This handicap will be added or subtracted from the team gross score at the end of the round. During the dinner, after the round, at the Ft. Sam Houston Golf Course Dining Room, a number between 70 and 80 will be drawn and the team with net score closest to that number will be declared the winner. Ties will be broken by a scorecard playoff. · Prizes will be awarded for First Place Team and Second Place Team. · Prizes will be awarded for Longest and Straightest Drive, Closest to the Pin, and Longest Putt for designated holes. Other awards include Best Golf Outfit, Youngest and Oldest Golfer and Hole-In-One. Questions concerning rules will be resolved by the final authority of the St. Andrew’s Wide Open Rules Committee.
