All About SAWGA

The mission of The San Antonio Women’s Golf Association (SAWGA) is to support and promote golf among the women in San Antonio and its surrounding areas, and to enhance the knowledge, enjoyment and participation of SAWGA members.

SAWGA is a non-profit organization of over 100 women. We provide a perfect opportunity to meet new friends while enjoying a pleasant round of golf at various golf courses.

We have fun events throughout the year such as,

LEARN ABOUT SAWGA

The name of the organization is “The San Antonio Women’s Golf Association” which started in 1932.

SAWGA is governed by its Bylaws and Standing Rules. All competitions conform to the USGA Rules of Golf.

Acceptance of membership into SAWGA binds each member to uphold all rules of the Association by observing its bylaws, standing rules and etiquette of golf as set forth by the USGA as well as accepting and observing all decisions of its Executive Board.

Membership is open to any amateur woman golfer 18 years of age or older who has an attested, USGA approved handicap index of 35.8 or less and is affiliated with a golf club or association that maintains handicaps.

Membership in SAWGA begins September 1st of a year and ends August 31st of the following year. Dues are payable in full at the beginning of the fiscal year. After February 1st, dues are reduced.

Members may play weekly on Mondays and on the first Friday of most months at various courses, providing a variable spectrum of cost, quality, and location that appeals to most members. It is not required that members play every week. Most of the play day formats are flighted according to handicap. Starting times vary depending on the time of the year and the course. All events are stroke play.

Prizes vary but may include awards for gross, net, closest to the hole, skins and/or low putts. Winnings accumulate over the year and are awarded at the Spring Awards Luncheon.

Ladies may play one time a year as a guest prior to joining the organization. A membership application form is available on the website. The Executive Board has final approval of all membership applications.
