SAWGA BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEETING MINUTES
January 31, 2011 The meeting was called to order by President, Syd Muenster. Board Members present were Syd, Irene White, Gayle Fiske, Peggy Baker, Bay Ponsiego, Susan Powell, Barb Hemmi and Communications Director, Terry Lambert. Members absent were Mary Lucas, Penny Nyman, Jo Ann Miller, Sue Marmion, Melody Stramer, Louise Day, Karen Ryan, Cindy Tuerk, Linda Stahl, Betty Lieb, and Jeanne Parsley . Syd gave the treasurer’s report. We have a balance of $4,647.66. We paid $126 for last year’s awards, which should not impact this year’s budget. We added a new member today and have a total of 105 members. Peggy Baker reported that we have the nominating committee in place. The slate must be presented at the next General Meeting, April 18, and we will take nominations from the floor at that time. New Business: The SAWGA Executive Board approved that a new member joining as of February 1, will pay reduced dues of $15.00. The Board approved the following changes in the Standing Rules: Guests may play one time during the Fall & Spring sessions (Tee Off thru Spring Awards) and then must become a member if they wish to play again. Guests may play any number of times during the summer. Guests may win the 50/50 pot and skins if they have paid into these pots. They are not eligible for other prizes since SAWGA supplements the prize money from the general budget. Nor are they eligible for chip-in pots since pots can carry over from one competition to the next without a winner. Guests invited to Social Tournaments should be encouraged to join SAWGA at the event prior to the start of the competition in order to be eligible for prize money. SAWGA will use the opportunity to win prizes as an incentive to join the organization. The Board did not want to increase the Skin participation fee from $5 to $10. The Board agreed to submit to the General Membership for vote changes regarding Guests in Article IV –Dues as well as delete the last sentence. The Board requested Syd to provide wording changes to Terry for communication to the General Membership. For play days, a motion was made by Irene and seconded by Peggy that we change the handicap index for the flights to the following: Championship Flight--0-12.9 Index Flight
One—13-18.9 Index The motion carried. [Corrected in conversation with Terry Lambert to reflect
course handicap of 115]: For Special Play days, Peggy made a motion and Bay seconded, that we pay gross and net skins equally across all flights and that all skins be paid equally. The motion carried. The deadline for First Friday sign-up was changed to the prior Tuesday, 8 p.m. The next General Meeting is scheduled for April 18, after the Club Championship play at Canyon Springs. A motion was made by Barb, and seconded by Peggy, that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. Respectfully submitted,
