SAWGA BOARD OF DIRECTOR MEETING MINUTES September 27, 2010 The meeting was called to order by Syd Muenster, President. Board Members present were Jeanne Parsley, Irene White, Betty Lieb, Gayle Fisk, Linda Stahl, Bay Ponsiego, Penny Nyman, Cindy Tuerk, Sue Marmion, Melody Stramer, Mary Lucas, and Communication Director, Terry Lambert. Board Members absent were Peggy Baker, Jo Ann Miller, Barb Hemmi, Susan Powell, Louise Day, and Karen Ryan. Linda moved, and Bay seconded, that we accept the minutes as posted on the website. The motion carried. The Treasurer's report noted that SAWGA has a balance of $3,717.76 in the account and we have 86 members. We are still expecting some new members as the membership deadline has been extended until October 31st. Syd read the names of former members and asked a Board Member to call each one and ask her to renew her membership. Penny Nyman noted the Hyatt Hill Country Resort is the location of the first 1st Friday playday. First Friday in November will be at Sonterra. We have a possibility of playing a First Friday at both Briggs Ranch and the new TPC course at a discounted rate. The pending date for the SAWGA Championship is April 18th at the Republic. The Christmas Party will be December 13th. We will call the members who do not have e-mail access to let them know of upcoming events. We had 60 players at the Kick-Off Tournament. We did gain a number of new members there. Bay Ponsiego is the coordinator of the Ringer Board and Barb Hemmi is coordinating the Ace of Aces. The Ace Playday will be on the third Monday of the month, which will leave the fourth Monday to serve as a make-up day, in case of bad weather the previous week. Terry Lambert will send flyers out to announce the First Friday play at Briggs Ranch and TPC. He noted there is now a special site for pictures on the web. If anyone takes action pictures, please send them to our Historian Betty Lieb and she will forward them to Terry. We are ready to go to online registration for all members. The data base automatically prints out the players for the tournament or playday. We need more hits on the website to be able to sell advertising. Under Old Business, Syd and Mary Lucas will coordinate any changes to the standing rules now that the by-laws are updated. Mary Lucas suggested that in our tournaments, we have ladies who play together sit together at the same table during lunch following play. She also noted that we should follow USGA guidelines and pay equal gross and net at every SAWGA tournament. In New Business, Terry asked for guidance regarding how soon to send out the "save the date" notice for Special and Social Tournaments. He does not want to send out so many email messages or send them so early that members get tired of reading SAWGA Mail and start to disregard these messages. It was decided to send out the notice for the Christmas Tournament on November 1st. Syd discussed the upcoming city tournaments and Terry noted the dates will be on our website. The City Amateur Tournament will be the first week-end in June at Pecan Valley. There is a movement to set up new forward tees so that ladies can carry the numerous hazards on their tee shots. Mary reminded Syd that to be able to use these new tees they will have to be rated by USGA, so the sooner the better. Syd notified us that SAWGA has been asked to be in a focus group to evaluate a new golf product. Approximately eight women will be asked to be in the group. More information will be forthcoming. The meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted,
Irene White,
Secretary
