Your president's two years in office are almost
through but it can't be ended without stating how important each and
every one of the officers has been to the executive board of
directors for 2008-2010. We had several hurdles to overcome these
past few years, most of which our general membership may have been
unaware.
Each board member committed to long meetings, usually
lasting two and three hours and this after a full SAWGA play day.
Each member also provided insight and thoughtful responses when
changes were proposed. We certainly didn't have any

either. Women of strong opinions make up your Board. At times the
discussions may have been heated as opposing views were presented,
but none of this was for naught. The opinions gave us all food for
thought, reasons to expand our ways of thinking, and finally, a
consensus of opinion on the outcome. These are the wheels a'workin'
behind the scenes. These are your Board at work.
I've wanted to name and recognize individual
contributions, but as I began to enumerate one and its importance,
then another would crop up, then another. Not to sound trite, but
this realization strikes home: running this organization truly
takes teamwork and dedication. The spokes turn this wheel. Each
duty, has at one time or another risen to the top on the list of
priorities, only to be replaced a while later by another situation
requiring top consideration.

Our organization had stagnated for a time, but we
have worked to upgrade and update the way we do things. We have
asked for input and suggestions from our membership, and we are
making some headway into utilizing technology to further smooth our
operation. Just look at the website as a case in point. Just a few
years ago the website was well boring. Terry, our webmaster,
has tuned and retuned, finely honing it to where it is bright,
colorful, full of relevant information, and updated constantly.
Just as the website has changed to keep up with the
times, so it is that SAWGA must constantly evolve and adjust to the
changing golf scene. This current Board has been visionary and
diligent in crafting a better golfing organization. We are no
longer one of only a handful of golf organizations in San Antonio.
SAWGA must compete not only with other golf groups but with a
rainbow of interests that our members enjoy. Our board members, in
spite of these competing interests, still give time and effort to
support a group of diverse players in their common interest golf.
Please take time to seek out our officers and thank
them for a job well done. They have been and continue to be the
backbone of SAWGA. And as for me, I can only say, Thank you,
officers, each and every one. Thank you.
Hit 'em straight, hit 'em long, and do well.
