President's Message
September 2009
By Jeanne Parsley

"Welcome Back!"

For those of you who missed it, we had a great time at our second annual Tee-Off Tournament.  Nancy White again did a great job of organizing our first big tournament of the year.  She and Qi Kerber couldn’t be found among the groups on the course because they were handling the “behind the scenes” orchestration to ensure we played well and then ate well, too.  Hats off to both of them!

At the general meeting following the Tournament, we learned that Wendy Molnar, our recently appointed Historian, is now “History”, so to speak.  (I know, that was bad).  She and her husband are on their way to Corsicana.  We’ll miss her signature sparkly cap and ever present smile out on the course.  Send us a fruitcake, Wendy!

Betty Lieb has stepped up to take Wendy’s place as Historian, so a big “Welcome, Betty!”  Is due to her, and we might add a thank you, too.

Betty‘s step-up to volunteer brings us to a message which you will hear more than once this year:  We need your leadership.  Several of your SAWGA board positions will have vacancies at the end of this year, and we‘ll need your expertise and competence to fill the void.

Peggy Baker, as first vice-president, will be seeking you out to fill those positions.  Don‘t be shy about approaching Peggy and saying, “I want to help.  Where do you need me?”

Do you feel some things need to be changed?  Get on the Board and make things happen.  Do you have abilities that you‘ve not accessed for a few years?  Get on the Board and sharpen those talents.  Do you just want to know the ins and outs of running SAWGA?  A board position gives you that information.

If you’re not sure just what a particular position’s responsibilities are, then ask any board member about the Procedural Guide.  This guide details the responsibilities for each of the board positions.  Each board member has a copy, and you may ask any one of us to share that information with you

Your president has had the pleasure of working with a dedicated board last year, and she looks forward to another year of dedication from each member, but next year SAWGA will need a new president as well as some other new board positions filled.  How about YOU filling one of those positions?

President 2009-2010
