Ladies,
If our Final Play Day and Awards
Luncheon on May 19 was any indication of things to come, then our
new season of 2008-2009 will be off to a rousing start when we
officially begin in September. Energy and enthusiasm were palpable
at Pecan Valley when 52 of our 143 members enjoyed the Shamble. New
and creative ideas have already been brought to the Board's
attention, and I hope to see several of those ideas brought to
fruition.
As your president this year, I hope
to impart a greater sense of community as we all share our interest
in golf. We, as avid golfers, so often see only the "golfer" side of
our membership. It's only when we chat in the interim between shots
that we learn interesting, sometimes unusual, information about some
of our golfing buddies. With that in mind, I hope to institute a new
feature, "In Her Other Life", interviewing one of our members every
few months, spotlighting her here on our website.

SAWGA began with the idea of bringing
together women golfers from the region not just from San Antonio
alone. We had fewer golf clubs at the time, and this was an
opportunity to meet others who had a love of the game. Now we have
many golf clubs and events that compete with our SAWGA time. SAWGA,
however, affords us a challenge by playing new or different courses
each week. Through SAWGA we continue to widen our circle of golfing
friends, adhere to the Rules of Golf, practice the subtleties of
golf etiquette, and enjoy a day on the links.
Now, as more courses are popping up,
we certainly have the opportunity to spot those other lady golfers,
introduce ourselves, and welcome them into a ladies' golfing family.
Summer is an ideal time for them to try us out. Won't you take time
to seek them out and invite them to join us?
Sincerely,
Jeanne Parsley
